On 30 August 2020, a webinar was organized by Coalition for Training Research and Development Pvt and FEYVINA Foundation to discuss the behaviors and actions while dealing with vulnerable children and adolescents at risk. Under current COVID pandemic situations, the virtual discussion was moderated by Bikash Thapa, Chief Executive Officer of CTRaDe with the participation of more than 30 participants working as active child rights experts, social workers, child advocators,and stakeholders in the area of children and adolescent protection sector in the country.

The event was mainly focused on discussing the underlying problems in the child development sector and how children are affected by the situations. The discussion highlighted the emerging psychosocial and mental health problems faced by children and adolescentsin risky situations. The meeting further talked about how parents can play an effective role in affecting the child’s growth during parenting and the role of governments in designing and implementing children and adolescent protection policies addressing the children and adolescents at risk.

The content was presented by Kamal Silwal, Chief Executive Officer of Genuis Academy on the differences in thinking level, capacity, and expectations of both the parents and children, which has caused the trust gap among the parents, adolescents, and children. These indifferences further negatively influence children education and family relations and  cause physical violence, domestic fights, child abuse, gender-based violence, and long-term mental health problems.

The session included the importance of responsible actions and behaviors by all the parents, children, organizations, institutions, teachers, social workers, and psychosocial counselors for supporting children and adolescents using friendly approaches avoiding all stereotypes and traditional mindsets. The importance of  analyzing physical gestures and symptoms of students facing distress as well as communication medium while supporting children through psychosocial counseling were raised by the participants. As expected the webinar  created a positive impact on participants and motivated them to be role model for children and  adolescents  development for creating a suitable environment .
